Refund Policy

To best protect our students and teaching providers, there are certain situations where refunds are granted:

For students:

 1. If a class booking has been requested by the student and it has not been confirmed in time by the teacher (within 72 hours after booking request), a full refund will be provided automatically.
 
2. For tutoring classes, should you not be happy with the first class of your tutor you will get your money back. You have to lodge your request for refund within 3 days after the first class took place (e.g. class date is August 11th, you can request a refund till August 14th 12:00am). Please send an email to refund@teachingme.com with your booking ID number, class name and feedback to request a refund. 
 
3. For packages include a free trial class, if you do not want to continue the class after trial class, you can request a full refund within 3 days after the class (e.g. class date is August 11th, you can request a refund till August 14th 12:00am). Please send an email to refund@teachingme.com with your booking ID number, class name and feedback to request a refund.  
 
4. Your booking has been confirmed yet the first class has not been started:
    • 2 weeks or more before the first class commencement date, 100% of booking amount will be refunded;
    • less than 2 weeks but more than 7 days before the first class commencement date, 85% of booking amount will be refunded;
    • Less than 7 days but more than 2 days before the first class commencement date, 50% of booking amount will be refunded;
    • 2 days or less than 2 days before first class commencement date, no refund will be provided;
    • If the class is cancelled by the teacher or the TeachingMe support team under some circumstances, 100% refund will be transferred back to your payment account.
 
5. Your booking has been confirmed and the first class has been taken:
    • Refund for any remaining hours of the package is applied according to the provider's refund policy. Please check the provider's refund policy on the class page before booking.
    • If the provider hasn't stated clearly their refund policy on class page, the student should enquire through the 'Contact Teacher' form about the provider's refund policy.

6. Processing fee:
    • Processing fee is refundable in full if a refund has been processed over the full amount, as per above section
    • For partial refunds the pro-rated amount of the processing fee is refunded however the fixed fee ($0.30 per transaction) is non-refundable.

For Teachers/Tutors:

1. If you elect to offer tutoring classes or a free trial class to your packages, you agree to provide a full refund should the students are not satisfied with the first tutoring class or the trial class. 
 
2. Cancellations before the start of a package

If a student cancels a confirmed booking before the start of the package:

    • If the cancellation date is 2 weeks or more before the first class commences (as per booking), the student will get all of his money back and no tuition fee will be paid to the teacher;
    • If the cancellation date is less than 2 weeks but more than 7 days before the first class commences (as per booking), 15% of the original payout amount will be credited to the teacher;
    • If the cancellation date is equal to or less than 7 days but more than 2 days before the first class commences (as per booking), 50% of the original payout amount will be credited to the teacher;
    • If the cancellation date is equal to or less than 2 days, 100% of the original payout amount will be credited to the teacher.

If the teacher cancels the class, 100% refund will be transferred back to the student(s).


3. Cancellations after the start of a package

    • For tutoring classes, you accept the 'First class satisfaction guarantee', which entitles your students for a full refund after the first class if they are not satisfied.
    • If a student cancels after the first class has taken place and if he is not covered by the above 'First class satisfaction guarantee', you will need to pay the refund according to your refund policy you have provided in the class description or to the extent what you and your student agreed upon.
    • If you are cancelling your class and decide not to continue e.g. in the following term we recommend to fully refund remaining credits of your students'.

The payout will be processed within 72 hours after the cancellation has been requested.

If the site admin cancels the class:

In very rare cases, the TeachingMe support team might cancel a class. In this case, a full refund will be transferred back to the students who have not started their sessions yet and we strongly encourage providers to provide refund back to the students who have already started their session.

Notifications

Once a class cancellation is received, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your cancellation request. We will also notify you of the approval of your refund.
After your refund is processed a credit will be applied to your PayPal account within 7 business days.

How do I cancel a class?

Before the commencement date of the first class, a booking can be cancelled under 'My Bookings' from 'MY ACCOUNT', which is visible after login. You can find the class under 'My Bookings', press 'Cancel' button to send the cancellation request to the teacher.

After the commencement date of the first class, please contact the teacher directly for class cancellation. The fund policy is according to teacher's refund policy.
