Teachers can click ‘List My Class’ in the header of each page and follow the steps. Click ‘Submit’ at the last step to complete a class listing.

  • What makes a good listing?

If you have owned a TeachingMe class page, our technical experts have set up the framework of your page that can be pushed to your targeted students.

There are some secret tips as to how you can optimise your class pages by simply editing your listings from your account, and they'll come up higher on Google Search ranking and attract more students.

    https://teachingme.com/good-class-listing/

  • How to stand out from listings?

      • Be Visible. The images that you use for both your profile and class pics are important for attracting students; they should be of high quality and professional. Potential clients want to feel comfortable contracting you as a teacher so choose a great profile picture that shows who you are. Don’t skip the class photos, as they give potential clients a peek at your classroom environment and help them imagine taking part in your classes.

      • Why They Should Choose You. Are you the most qualified for the job? We encourage you to add as much practical information about you and your classes as possible, in the spaces provided, so that potential students can make an informed choice. Create a compelling profile by telling students the folowings about your:
        1. Class information about what subjects & year levels that you teach, the best selling points of your classes, and if you travel, it is also important for students to know if it is one-on-one class or the class size;
        2. Qualifications;
        3. Experience;
        4. A single session option to encourage students to try your class;
        5. Class discounted packages with greater amounts of hours encourage a longer-term commitment from your student.

      • Include Credentials. People want to feel secure, especially parents and students, when it comes to activities like tutoring. Adding valid ID, a Police Clearance and Working With Children Check demonstrates that your classes are safe for everyone to attend.

      • Get Positive Reviews. Students are encouraged to review listings and these reviews, along with location and price create an overall rating. Make sure you receive a high rating to be able to attract a greater number of students.

      • Be A Stand Out. The key to becoming a bestseller is to use clear and engaging photos, include identification documents and concise information about why you are a great teacher. Encourage your students to add their reviews and watch your listing stand out from the crowd.

  • How much should I charge?

Tutoring rates are decided by you and the market. Rates can be set depending on the subject, the number of students per lesson, the location and whether the engagement entails travel, the duration of the class and the level of teaching experience.

Guideline on how much you should get paid:

  • How to set up packages?

In the TeachingMe platform every tutoring or teaching class is set up as a package of hours.

      • The concept of defining various packages of hours allows you to create a palette of variations of your class that suits your student’s individual needs. Package offerings with greater amounts of hours ensure a longer-term learning commitment from your student. They also allow you to set up discounts, to make bookings more attractive for your students.

      • When creating your class you can simple set up the amount of hours of your class and students are able to book a particular package that can be then consumed over the teaching period that you’ve given. When your student has used up all tutoring hours or class sessions you should mark the package as completed in Account > My Listings > class > Manage Enrolments for your particular student, enabling your student to book another package.

      • It is a good idea to provide a clear description of your package so that your students can understand which service they can expect. You should also think about providing discounts.

    Here are some examples

      • One-hour introduction class
      • Full-term class
      • Casual blocks of hours

One thing to be aware of is that packages with more hours are attracting a lower commission rate. Find out more about commission rates here.

  • How to set up Tutoring and Group classes?

    Group classes

The TeachingMe platform provides you with flexibility to set up regular or one-off group classes. All you have to do is setting up your teaching period, this might be only one day or several months.

    Casual regular group classes

You can set up group classes e.g. for a regular weekly dance class over a certain period, on particular weekdays from start times to end times. The booking calendar will show weekly schedule of your classes that can be booked by students. When a student requests a booking you can decide if you have capacity to take on the booking or suggest another date, which the student then needs to confirm.

    Structured courses

If you like to set up structured courses e.g. you don’t accept bookings after start date you have two options:

    Option 1

You set up the class so that the start date and end date are on the same day. It’s a good idea to provide an idea of the class timetable in the description of your class in List My Class > Class Info page so that students are clearly aware of the class structure (e.g. if it has multiple sessions etc.).

    Option 2

You set up the class as a casual group class over the whole class period (see above) and you create a package with a name that makes the nature of the booking clear, e.g. full-term. This option also provides you with the flexibility to have students that have made a booking for the entire term and also creates a package for casual bookings.

    Tutoring sessions

When setting up a tutoring class you are defining a regular time window (start date and end time) during which you are available for tutoring and you are able to accept student bookings. So, when students are making a booking they can choose a time from the availability window.

    Here is an example

You have chosen Class Type as Tutoring Class and have setup a regular availability window for Wednesday 4pm - 7pm.

When you set up the class, the booking calendar is automatically set up with weekly recurring sessions over the entire teaching period, which means that at any weeks students can request a booking for this class. You can adjust the booking calendar e.g. change availability for a certain date where you locate your class in Account > My Listings > the Class and click the calendar next to the class, and then choose the date you wish to activate or deactivate the availability and save by clicking the orange ‘Save’ button in the bottom.

Your student can see your availability window in the class listing; at this point he will either contact you via messaging or requesting in his booking request if your Wednesday slot is still available for, let’s say, 4.30pm on a particular Wednesday during your teaching period.

At this point you have the following options:

      • The date and time are suitable for you and you can confirm your student's booking in Account > My Listings under Manage Enrolments for your class.
      • You might have already another student from 4 to 5pm. You can send your student a message suggesting the new time and negotiate a suitable time before you accept the booking.
      • Your availability window is already filled with other student bookings and you can’t find a slot on that day. In this case you might propose a new start date for your student at Account > My Listings > class > Manage Enrolments > student > Change Date, an email notification will be sent to the student with the new date proposal. When your student confirms the proposed date, the booking is confirmed and you will receive an email confirmation.

    Two important notes!

    • It is a good idea to check with the student before you confirm the booking about the time for their tutoring session with you if he hasn’t requested a specific time. You can use the built-in messaging system in My Listings under manage enrolment for your class.
    • Keep your booking calendar up-to-date to reflect your availability. This way you can avoid enquiries for days that you are already fully booked. The calendar could enable you to mark the selected days as available and unavailable.

  • Do I need to state my refund policy?

Being upfront about your refund policy clearly will make booking more streamlined and avoid unnecessary complications later.

By listing your class (tutoring classes only), you accept the ‘First class satisfaction guarantee’, which entitles your students to a refund after the first class if they are not satisfied with the engagement.

  • TEACHERS / BOOKINGS

  • How / What should I reply to a class enquiry from a prospective student?

If you have recieved a class enquiry, please address the questions that the student has.

If you are tutoring, you may also want to discuss about the preferred the session days and times, the teaching location, ask the student to make a booking for your class, and to aussure your student that he/she is under 100% first class satisfaction guarantee for the booking.

  • How do I accept a booking request?

You can accept a booking request after login, follwing the steps: 'My Account' -> 'My Listings' > clicking 'Manage Enrolments' next to the class -> clicking 'Pending'-> clicking 'Accept' so that the booking request is accepted and the student will receive a booking confirmation email.

The booking request is only valid 72 hours. Please accept booking requests as soon as you can to avoid keeping the student waiting and in case you won't get paid.

If you have not set up your payout account when you accept the first booking request, you can refer to the FAQ item 'How do I get paid and which account will I be paid into?'.

  • How to avoid missing out student enquiries?

  • TEACHERS / 1ST CLASS

  • How to prepare and what to do for the first class?

Follow these tips to ensure your first class with a new student gets off to a good start.

    Be prepared.

Find out the expectations about your student before the first session. What are the subjects and topics they need help with and what level are they working at? Do some topic research to be prepared.

    Begin by introducing yourself.

Take the time to introduce yourself. Talk to your student about your background and share your enthusiasm for your subject. Always be friendly and professional and let them know you are there to help.

    Discuss the problem.

Future sessions will be more productive if you have developed an understanding of your student’s learning profile. Are they visual or verbal learners? Do they like to learn by doing or do they like to reflect on what they learn? See if you can identify your student’s learning strengths as well as the things they find challenging.

    Draw up a study plan.

Develop a plan of action for your tutorial sessions, detailing what you will be studying together and including a timeline. Agree on some realistic goals for you both to work towards.

You can introduce your package offerings on TeachingMe to encourage a longer term committment from the student and you are eabled to receive payment upfront via TeachingMe.

    Seek out student feedback.

Student feedback is a very useful tool for planning future sessions and will help you pinpoint the strategies that best help your student’s learning. To help guide the discussion, you can ask some open questions such as ‘What questions are on your mind at the end of this lesson?’

After a succesful first class, when you conclude the class, you may ask the student to leave a review for you. A high rating and a good review can attract a greater number of students.

Don’t forget to have lots of fun!

Learning is so much easier when you are having fun. Try to use positive teaching strategies, praise frequently but appropriately and plan each session so that your student feels like they are building on their successes. End every session on a positive note.
